[one_half last=”yes”]In early 2011, Koraly Dimitriadis attended Passionate Tongues poetry in Brunswick where Ben John Smith featured. Koraly was blown away by the honesty in Ben’s work. She had never written a sexual poem before. Ben’s poetry instigated an awakening in Koraly. In mid 2011, Koraly launched Love and Fuck Poems at Bar Nancy in Northcote. She invited Ben and suggested they do a collaborative set where they respond to each other poem for poem. The crowd was enthralled. This sparked an idea. All they needed was a venue. Ben and Koraly would war, poem for poem, until there was an ultimate winner. The annual Polyester Poetry War was born.[/one_half]

Koraly and Ben promote each war with a photo shoot and a warm-up poem. The poster is printed in Beat magazine. On the night the war spills out onto Brunswick Street and draws passersby.
