Koraly
Dimitriadis was born in
Australia to Greek-Cypriot
parents and was raised in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. Koraly has always
been creative, drawing, painting, sewing, designing, writing and
reading from a young age. Encouraged to
pursue a ‘safer’ career by her parents, Koraly studied Accounting/Computing
and later worked for corporate giants IBM and ANZ.
Koraly stayed close to books during her university years, working as a librarian
for Moreland City Libraries. In August 2000,
she was awarded the title ‘Miss Cyprus
of Victoria’ for her fundraising efforts in
the Greek-Cypriot community of Melbourne.
Koraly began her first novel in 2005, dabbling in it for two years. In mid 2007
her need to create influenced her decision to start a career in writing. Today
she no longer works in IT. Koraly's
been fortunate to have inspiration and guidance from three mentors through her
writing career, Demet Divaroren, Christos Tsiolkas
and more recently, director Anna Kannava, who have encouraged and supported her
writing. Koraly currently studies Professional Writing and Editing at RMIT.
